We’re excited and proud to announce that Snapmakerjs, the 3-in-1 software designed for Snapmaker users, now has over ten thousand users worldwide! Many awesome features have been added to Snapmakerjs with its rapid iterations and community-driven principle. Today, we’d like to share our five latest features with you.
Faster is better. We added the Line (Normal Quality) mode to provide you a fast engraving option for grayscale images. This feature can save you hours for big grayscale images. The quality is still good, just next to the original Dot (High Quality) mode. The time you save varies greatly depending on the size and pattern of the grayscale images.
Have you ever spent a lot of time on finding the best work origin for the engraving image on a piece of irregular material?
If your answer is yes, a built-in camera with appropriate algorithm can help to solve this issue. However, it will cost a lot for this type of modification. Our solution is that we can use a Camera Aid Background feature to reduce misprint without any modification to your Snapmaker. What you need to prepare is simply your smartphone.
Here’s how it works:
CNC machining is a popular process used in the manufacturing industry. However, there are fewer people using CNC router at their homes due to the complicated CAD and CAM software. We want to make desktop CNC machining accessible to the masses through the Snapmaker 3-in-1 3D printer.
The Snapmakerjs helps you to get started with simple CNC projects using 2D images, such as SVG and grayscale images. Simply upload an SVG file, and then you can cut hardwood, acrylic or carbon fiber sheet to specific shapes. You can even make detailed relief carving using grayscale images!
In version 2.5.2, the CNC relief carving feature is a BETA VERSION. Although it works out great carving results, it currently supports small size grayscale images only, no bigger than 60x60mm. If you are interested in this feature, do check it out and try it yourself. We’d love to hear your feedback and make it better.
If you want to set all the parameters and get things done at once, then the multiple-model laser engraving and cutting should be a feature that you’ll love and use frequently.
Again, this feature can save you a lot of setup time. Imagine that you are going to print dozens of LEGO bricks, you can make it in one operation instead of setting models and removing them from the plate for dozens of times!

From October 23, 2017 to today, Snapmakerjs has released 16 versions in total. It gradually becomes a more mature software by turning your feedback into new functions and bug fixes. We are working on more and more CNC features that you have asked for. Here are a few highlights of the upcoming versions of Snapmakerjs:
- Multiple-model CNC carving and cutting
- More settings for CNC carving images and smooth operation
- Support uploading 3D models for CNC carving
- General performance optimization, such as shorten the loading time for the preview of large models, and reduce memory consumption significantly
